From September 1-11 the sixth edition of the Amsterdam Fringe Festival will once again raise the city’s rooftops; an adventurous mix of theatrical anarchy and creative explosions, where events will be held in clubs and theaters, as well as on the streets and in living rooms. In the past three years the Fringe’s open registration policy has provided a turbulent cultural collage of exciting classical, experimental and innovative productions. This year will be even more challenging—as the Fringe is broadening its horizons and looks over the boarders to welcome the international Fringer that would like to flabbergast Amsterdam audiences.
The Fringe offers a stimulating environment for artists where there is room for creative encounters, cross-pollination and stimulation of artistic innovation without a jury. The Fringe wants to invite the public to join the participating artists on this adventure.
Presentations, performances and acts which distinguish themselves from each other by going against the grain, being raw, political or simply on the cutting edge are welcome. Typically ‘fringe’ is that both the groups as well as the locations actively serve in promoting the performances and the artists. The festival offers support along the way with advice, organisational know-how and general publicity.
